Brief Overview
The science boards will be set-up and available to view between 5:00 pm and 6:30 pm in the multipurpose room on the day of the event. Students are encouraged to accompany their projects to explain and/or answer questions viewers may have. All students who participate will receive a participatory ribbon.
General information:
- Projects should be displayed on a three-section board.
- Projects can include a demonstration, inquiry, or science experiment.
- Projects will be completed at home independently or with family members.
- Project examples and a suggested timeline will be provided in class.
- The scientific inquiry process should be used.
The scientific inquiry process is a problem-solving approach that includes the scientific method. The basic steps of the scientific method are listed below:
- Problem/Question
- Observation/Research
- Hypothesis/Prediction
- Experiment
- Collect Data
- Analyze Results
- Conclusion
The scientific method is used in all sciences. Scientists ask different questions and perform different tests. However, they use the same core approach to find answers that are logical and supported by evidence.
Timeline of Events
January 12th: Receive Science Fair Packet
Brainstorm project ideas. (Review the parent/student packet that contains more detailed project information.)
January 30th: Complete the Science Fair Interest Form
January 12 - February 26th: Complete your project and prepare for your presentation
February 26th: Bring your project to school by 4 p.m. and be prepared to share in the evening
